The Department of Social, Political and Cognitive Sciences (DISPOC)
The teaching staff of the Department has both general and specialist interests, from political science to sociology to anthropology and cognitive sciences, with a special emphasis on interdisciplinarity. The new building in via Mattioli has been designed by one of the best-known Italian architects.
Spacious rooms provide teaching staff and students with a modern environment, respectful of the traditional architectural style of Siena. The area offers also plenty of space for leisurely strolls, informal meetings and rest after lectures.
The Library
The largest and oldest of the University libraries of Siena, the “Circolo Giuridico”, is also located in via Mattioli. It offers a rich collection of books and journals in the field of social sciences and law (more than 500.000 books), many of them in English.
A special reading space is reserved there for graduate students.
